The wedding officiant summed it up best by saying if it looks like a duck and acts like a duck, then it must be a duck. Love is love and it doesn’t matter who you love, it’s real. And you definitely feel the love with Lanae and Kathy.
Lanae is the sister of my good friend Amy and when her and Kathy got engaged, Amy didn’t miss a beat in contacting me to photograph the wedding. Lanae and Kathy were so excited throughout the planning and it was great to travel to Amy’s home state for this emotional, touching and happy wedding.
The rehearsal party was a tailgate at a Detroit Tigers game and I don’t think the party stopped for two days! The tiny, dimly lit chapel was a beautiful place to witness such a beautiful union. Kathy was all tears the entire time along with the family, who were so happy for these two. Just seeing all this joy, Lindsay and I had a hard time not getting choked up ourselves! But after the tears, came a rocking, all out dance party reception. Complete with the entire Detroit crew lip singing to “Cowboy” and “The Real Slim Shady”, by Kid Rock and Eminem, both Detroit natives. Oh and we can’t forget the surprise table dancing rendition of “I Kissed a Girl”, planned by the wedding party. And Amy, the Maid of Honor, trying to get everyone to do the wave to start the party right. It was definitely one of the best and most energetic receptions we have ever photographed. The entire night was a celebration of Lanae and Kathy’s love and I am so happy that Lindsay and I were a part of it.
To Kathy and Lanae–cheers!

My dear friend Amy gave one of the most heart felt toasts I’ve heard to her sister Lanae and partner Kathy. One day wishing she could find love as strong as the love Lanae and Kathy have for each other. It was amazing to be able to photograph such an emotionally rich wedding. I am so happy for them. Plenty more photos to come–be checking back soon!

Hey Daniel!
This is Cas, Hero’s dad from Chaps.
I really love this photo. Where was it shot? I’m a proud native of Detroit, so my curiosity is piqued.August 29, 2010 – 8:54 pm
