We’ve known Hallie for a few years now and we had met her guy Kyle a few times and always thought…”These two are good together. They should get married.” Well in March 2011, the ever romantic Kyle popped the question in beautiful San Francisco. Right away, Hallie didn’t hesitate to contact us about photos and of course we didn’t hesitate to jump at the opportunity to photograph their wedding.

Almost a year later, they tied the knot in a sweet and sentimental ceremony at Portland’s Abernethy Chapel. They got ready at the swanky Nines Hotel in downtown Portland, where many a celebrity and sports team are known to stay while visiting our city. It was the perfect backdrop for photographing Hallie, who was a knockout in a sweeping, sexy dress that fit her perfectly. Kyle was completely taken by her and couldn’t keep his eyes off her the entire day. (We love that.) After an emotional ceremony, full of tears and a little fist pumping, we had an amazing time photographing their reception where the celebration continued with hilarious toasts, some serious dancing and maybe even a backflip or two. We always knew Hallie and Kyle would be perfect in marriage and we are thrilled we were able to capture the beginning of it. Cheers you two.

  • A Sea of Blue » My Portland Photographer:

[...] People ask all the time if the walls are really that blue.  The answer is…kind of.  I underexposed the image to deepen the wall color and also to eliminate the ambient light. I also shot with a cooler white balance and gelled the flash on the couple to give them a warmer glow than the rest of the image.  All in all  the photo took about 2 minutes and couple had really no idea what went into it.  You can view the rest of their photos on my blog. The moment Allison put on her dress was a magical moment for everyone in the room. Immediately the bridesmaids’ mouths hit the floor in awe of her pure beauty and after a few quiet moments, there was an eruption of the loudest screaming of excitement ever. It was one of the best reactions we have ever seen and right then, we knew this was going to be an amazing day.

Allison and Shane held their wedding ceremony in a beautiful old church in North Portland.  One of our favorite moments was being able to capture Allison having a quiet moment with her dad before walking down the aisle. He was an emotional father and when he saw Allison in her dress, he fondly credited Allison’s mom for raising his beautiful daughter.

Following their touching wedding ceremony we headed out to their wedding reception at The Arista Ballroom on one of Portland’s hippest streets, Hawthorne Blvd.  Allison’s family is originally from the south and have that classic southern charm that we love being around. Given that and the fact that their wedding was so close to Mardi Gras, it was only natural to thrown in a little New Orleans style, complete with bright colored umbrellas and beaded necklaces. It was an electric night that we will remember for a long time. Cheers Allison and Shane!
